Why the standardization matters more than the total
A gram of mushroom powder tells you how much material is in the capsule. It does not tell you how much of the active fraction is in it, and that can vary widely between batches and suppliers.
This extract is held to a specification: 40% polysaccharides, 400 mg per serving. That number is checked rather than estimated, which is why we print it next to the total instead of leading with the larger figure alone.
One thing this label does not tell you
The ratio of fruiting body to mycelium is not disclosed. That is common in the mushroom supplement category and it is legal, but it is less than we would like, so we would rather say it than let you assume.
